I am this months featured designer over on Stick it Down, which means I get to share my layout with you today! I’m in love with the stitched shapes framelits, it’s no wonder Stampin’ up! brought their release forwards 8 months! As soon as I saw this single page sketch, I knew they would be perfect for it.
One of my favourite product suites, you may have noticed, From the spring/summer catalogue is the Cupcakes and Carousel suite. I Love that the paper has pink tones on one side and blues on the other. The images in the stamp set are fun and a great size for including on layouts. Did you see the big wheel appear in last weeks layout?
When you purchase a paper pack From Stampin’ Up! it comes with a list of the main colours used in it – this helps your coordination and makes creating simple. I chose to use mint macaron for the card stock and bermuda bay for the main stamping.
I wanted to make it clear in the embelishment of the page that the photo was taken on a carousel, stamping the carousel horse image multiple times really helped this.
The Cupcakes and Carousels paper has a distressed printed effect. I used the timeless textures stamp set to continue this effect and create flow between the background card stock and the designer series paper. It’s a great idea to take ideas from the papers you are using as inspiration for further embellishments on your project.
When you use tone on tone stamping- ie mint macaron ink on mint macaron card it creates a subtle-water mark effect. I used this for my journaling as I wanted it to be readable but not draw your eyes away from the main focus.
Hint: if using our Stampin’ Write Marker for extended writing, stand it on its end for a few seconds before you begin. This will draw as much ink to that end and ensure a constant colour.
