I Love a good quote; my pinterest is full of them; my hall way has an entire wall devoted to Edward Monkton. Living near the sea, on the Colne estuary, we see boats a lot, so this quote on friendship is one of my favourites at the moment as it really sums up my thoughts about the awesomeness of living in Wivenhoe.
As soon as I saw Noah, Miles and Evan playing together on the boat in the park at Clacton seafront, it instantly resonated this quote to me. Evan was visiting from somerset for a few days, and with all the attractions, sights and experiences we tried to offer the boys, they warn’t bothered – they just wanted to play.
Their friendship is the most important feature – and I hope this remains so.
When I saw this months stick it down sketch, it scared me. I am not a white space crafter! I swapped the contrast so the ‘Empty’ space was the photo placement and used a busy patterned paper for the rest of the page. Even then, i couldn’t resist doing more!
The paper I used for this layout is from the urban underground pack. You’ll see it appear a few times over the next few months because it is a brilliant collection for scrapbooking. It contains a mix of Basic Grey, Black and Very Vanilla – so I used very vanilla 12×12″ for the background and Very Vanilla ribbon to match. I added some Pacific Point – using card to cut the title quote and our enamel embelishments to bring it all together. The amazing ship wheel charm I managed to pick up at a local bead show – it was perfect to add to this layout.
I am really pleased with this layout, even though I was terrified when I saw the original sketch. This is why I love sketches. There is no right or wrong way to use the inspiration. Every layout is different. Head to the stick it down blog to see the other design team members take on this sketch.
