Sometimes life isn’t always roses and beach days, sometimes life is downright scary. I was in Brussels in November 2015 when a series of coordinated terrorist attacks targeted Paris. 130 people lost their lives and nearly 400 were injured. While I wasn’t personally affected, some of those who I was with were. It changed the mood of our trip, particularly when it soon became apparent that the attackers had come from Belgium. So while I was scared, more powerful than that, I was determined to be Brave. As was occurring in many cities around the world, public buildings were lit with the french flag – I headed to the Grand Place to see the Town Hall.
I’ve wanted to scrap this photo for a long time but it really doesn’t fit my usual style. This month’s Stick it Down sketch was just the inspiration I needed.
It was just patterned paper and a hidden tag…no fuss, no adding bits here, there and everywhere. The tag was perfect as I wanted to record my thoughts, but the aren’t something I want everyone reading. The final push that made me scrap this photo was receiving the High Tide stamp set.
The sentiment was perfect to use to create the title. I love how it’s small and understated, but the hope grabs your attention.
You may also notice that I’ve used very vanilla 12×12″ card as the background to this layout. I am so excited to see that it’s been added to our 12×12″ single colour offering – along with Basic Black and Whisper White.
…and… we’ve also started selling trio packs in 12×12″ so that you can get 8 sheets each of 3 awesome base colours – that coordinate so well with the new designer series papers. I’m really excited for the scrapbooking possibilities of the new annual catalogue. If you live in Europe and you’d like me to send you one – get in contact.
In the meantime, you can order all the new papers here…
