Something Special, Something Handmade

There are some celebrations that require something extra special, and there really is nothing more special than something handmade. Today’s card  was created for just such an occasion.

A special card that has been handmade for a first birthday.I was commissioned to create this special card for a lovely lady for her nephew’s first birthday. She had searched around town, bit nothing seemed special enough. The customer wanted blue to feature on the card, so I chose this wonderful (but retired) designer series paper. She wanted something with animals or teddy bears and my thoughts instantly went to Baby Bear.

Baby bear is a three-step stamping set. I love how he just pops when you add the third layer.

The stamps are numbered in the packet and if you go step 3 – step 2 – step 1, it’s really difficult to not make a beautiful image! This stamp set is photopolymer, so it’s really important to give yourself the cushioning by placing a stamping mat under your card. If you’ve not experienced three step stamping – why not schedule a demonstration today – it can be in person or online!

The colours I used for the bear were dictated by the paper I decided to use as the background on the card. It contained elements of crumb cake and smokey slate. I decided to use Tip-Top Taupe as my base cardstock and also as the third colour on my bear. Creating further continuity between the bear and the background sheet was easy, by stamping him a little bow in the same colour. I stamped both steps of the bow in the same ink, pool party, as this gave it a subtle depth of shadow.

For the main sentiment, I used the Number of Years Stamp Set and matching Framelits. You can bend photopolymer stamps to create an arch – which is what I did to create the banners to surround the number.

The inspiration and instructions I based my card on were from . I often search pintrest with the name of a stamp set and am amazed by the ideas. Being part of the stampin’ Up!  community is something I truly cherish,  with everyone sharing their ideas and their beautiful projects.

Being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is not about holding classes or teaching – it’s about inspiring, creating and sharing.

There really isn’t a better time to join or find out more. There are currently 8 members in my team, the {Awesome} Arrows and I’d love to welcome you too.
